내 차는 식어버렸고, 난 대체 왜 침대에서 일어났나 싶어. 아침비가 창문을 가려서 밖은 하나도 보이질 않아. 설령 보인다 해도 온통 잿빛이겠지만, 벽에 걸린 네 사진을 보면 그렇게 나쁘지만은 않다는 게 생각나. 그렇게 나쁘지 않아.

 

어젯밤에 술을 너무 많이 마셨고, 낼 돈은 쌓여있고, 머리는 너무 아파. 버스를 놓쳐서 오늘은 아주 지옥 같을 거야. 또 지각이거든. 회사에 가더라도 사람들은 다들 눈치를 주겠지, 내가 오늘을 못 버틸지도 모른다고 말이야. 그때 네가 나에게 전화를 하면, 상황은 그렇게 나쁘지 않게 느껴져. 그렇게 나쁘지 않아.

 

정말 고맙다고 말하고 싶어. 내 인생에서 최고의 날을 선사해 줘서. 오, 그저 너와 함께 있는 것만으로도 난 내 인생 최고의 날을 보내는 거야.

 

문을 밀고 드디어 집에 도착했어. 난 온몸이 흠뻑 젖어있지. 그때 네가 나에게 수건을 건네주고, 내 눈엔 너만 보여. 지금 당장 내 집이 무너져 내린다 해도 난 전혀 모를 거야. 네가 내 곁에 있으니까.
